May 6, 2017, was a great day for the Order of the Pious Schools, specifically of the Vice-Province Japan-Philippines and the Province of Bethany. On that day, there were two beautiful and important religious celebrations at Calasanz Formation House, Cebu City. First, in the morning during Lauds, 15 young men were accepted to the Novitiate. It is composed of 3 Filipinos, 3 East Timorese, 3 Indonesians, 5 Vietnamese, and 1 Korean. A week before their acceptance to the novitiate, Fr. Arvin Peñaranda Sch. P. directed their 5-day retreat at Schoenstatt Shrine, Cebu City.
Second, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon of the same day, 16 novices made their profession of simple vows. This group is composed of 2 Vietnamese, 5 Filipinos, and 9 Indonesians. The Holy Eucharist was presided by Fr. Miguel Artola Sch. P., the Vice-Provincial Superior, and concelebrated by 7 Filipino Piarist priests. Families, relatives, friends, neighbors, religious sisters and brothers, and the Teams of our Lady, came to witness the solemn celebration. After the mass, there was a short program and dinner. A week before their profession, Fr. Danilo Mutia Sch. P., directed their 5-day retreat at House of Silence, Cebu City. Let us continue praying for more piarist vocations. May God bless us all!
