This is the 29th time that the representatives of eight European countries meet in the Finals of the International Parafiada for Children and Teenagers. They share their passion that can be described in three words: stadium-theatre-church.
From 9th till 15th July 2017 over 1500 young people from Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia and Germany are coming to Warsaw in order to take part in a wide range of competitions including art, vocal, theatre and sports.
The 29th International Parafiada for Children and Teenagers is organised by the St. Joseph Calasanz Association “Parafiada” which is run by the Order of Piarists. Following the example of the Greek triad the organisers offer three dimensions of self-development to the participants, namely sport, spirituality and culture. “In this more and more divided Europe we are looking for something that unites us” – with these words Father Tomasz Olczak president of “Parafiada” points to the exceptional mission that is performed by the Piarists’ Association.
Taking sport into consideration, in the Finals of “Parafiada” there are 13 different disciplines in 16 sport competitions i. a. shot put, shooting, summer biathlon. As for spiritual development, the event gives an opportunity to experience the community of faith among peers from different countries through daily mass and common prayer evenings. It’s a great opportunity to meet with St. Joseph de Calasanz during our special piarist year of jubilee. The cultural aspect: Young people treading the boards will present their acting and singing skills in competiton. During the stay in Warsaw all the participants will have the chance to visit the most interesting places of the city (museums, the Royal Castle or the parliament).
The 29th International Finals of Parafiada for Children and Teenagers are under the patronage of the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.
