Last Monday, the First Meeting of Communicators of the Order began with the slogan “Go and announce”, in which the Piarist demarcations and the Fraternity participate. The Conference is being held in Madrid, at the headquarters of the Bethany province, and will end on Friday, April 13. The meeting began with the reception by the Communication Office of the Order, the weekly work plan and the presentation of each of the provinces. As Fr. Andrés Valencia, coordinator of the Communication Office of the Order, affirms, the objective is “to grow in the conception of our task as a service to the Order and the Demarcation, and that goes beyond mere office”.

Tuesday began with a greeting byFr. General, Pedro Aguado, to the attendees. Aguado highlighted some challenges of communicative work and insisted that “our mission is not to communicate for the Pious Schools, but to make people enthusiastic about our mission and with the person of Jesus”. During the morning, the director of the magazine Vida Nueva, José Beltrán, shared a reflection on communication in the Church today. “We have the best news in history to communicate, but we must do it with professionalism and creative fidelity,” said Beltrán, who later led a workshop with attendees to generate attractive news. In the afternoon, a round table brought us the testimony and experience of four journalists; Miryam García of Pontifical Mission Societies; Jesus Bastante of Digital Religion; Pablo Labandeira of Communication of the Jesuitines and Chema Ivorra of the Cluny Sisters. Each one, from his experience, was able to share and present some of the challenges they face in their daily lives as communication professionals, either at the head of religious institutions or as media professionals.
