Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit
Prayer for the 48th General Chapter of the Order of the Pious Schools
Come, Holy Spirit. Help your Church that Jesus, the Lord, may be at the centre of the community and of the mission, so that nothing and no one may replace him. Increase in us faithfulness to the Gospel, and make your Church truly a universal sacrament of salvation.
Come, Holy Spirit. Encourage and strengthen the vocation of all Piarists, that we may grow in fidelity to your call and witness to God’s educational love for the poor and the little ones.
Come, Holy Spirit. Inspire the desires and hopes of young people, that they may discover God’s call to a life of fullness and love and, if it is your will, of generous dedication to the Piarist life and mission.
Come, Holy Spirit. Call the whole Calasanctian Family to grow in holiness and in missionary identity with Our Holy Father Saint Joseph Calasanz, for the benefit of so many children and young people, especially the poorest, who need the bread of education and faith.
Come, Holy Spirit. Enrich with your life-giving presence all the people who share the charism of Calasanz within the Fraternity of the Pious Schools and all the Piarist initiatives, so that the gift you gave to Calasanz may be incarnated, with authenticity, within all vocations.
Come, Holy Spirit. May your presence and your inspiration guide the work of the General Chapter of the Order of the Pious Schools, so that the efforts of the Chapter members may always seek the benefit of the Order and, above all, that of the children and young people in whose name we are gathered and for whose good we have been called together.
Come, Holy Spirit. Inspire the thoughts of the General Chapter, so that its decisions and teachings contribute to a Pious Schools more worthy of Calasanz, illuminate the profile of the Piarist we need, send us to an irreplaceable ministry and, above all, help us to live with Jesus, the only Lord, at the centre of our lives.
Come, Holy Spirit. Help us to see life and the world with the eyes of Jesus. Make us humble and faithful disciples of the Lord, like Mary, our Mother, and like Calasanz, our founder. May the General Chapter of our Order, through their intercession, be lived, held and received for the Glory of God and the Benefit of our Neighbour.
GLORY BE TO THE FATHER AND TO THE SON AND TO THE HOLY SPIRIT, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. AMEN
SAINT JOSEPH CALASANZ, pray for us.
