On November 1st, Solemnity of All Saints, Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, a Vietnamese Piarist, celebrated his first Eucharist in the chapel of St. Joseph Calasanz at the house of Saint Pantaleo in Rome.
It is the first time in the history of the Order that a Vietnamese Piarist celebrates his first mass in our motherhouse. In this celebration, the communities of Saint Pantaleo, the general house of the Piarist Sisters and the Calasanctianum, where Tuấn lives, met to share with him this special and significant moment, framed in a feast as special as that of All Saints.
In his homily, Tuấn invited us to think not only of the saints who are in heaven, but also of those who here on earth, day by day, with their work and dedication, are building the Kingdom of Heaven in the Pious Schools. Moreover, he referred especially to a Piarist that he always carries in his heart, as do dozens of Piarists who have known him, Father Jesús Lacarra Sch. P., who tirelessly continues his work in the Philippines for poor children, young people, Piarist vocations, mission and formation, being a witness of dedication and holiness in daily life.
Fr. General emphasized the importance of this first time for our history as a sign of hope and the growth of the Order in the world. He also brought to the celebration the envelope in which the first Christmas card of the first community in Vietnam arrived in San Pantaleo, noting that the beginnings are usually like this, small, but that they announce great things to come.
We thank God for the gift of the Piarist vocation, the gift of the vocation to universal holiness and the gift of the Order’s growth and expansion throughout the world.
