After a few days of joyfully celebrating the ordination of José Colmenárez, in Venezuela, our Central American and Caribbean demarcation is again filled with rejoicing as we celebrate today, June 29th, Solemnity of St. Peter and St. Paul, the priestly ordination of Fr . Esteban Barrantes, Sch.P.
Esteban is an alumnus of our school in San José, Costa Rica, and after discerning his Piarist vocation, he began his pre-novitiate in the vocational house in this city, on February 1, 2010. A year after he made his Novitiate in Bogota, to which many religious and candidates of our demarcation owe their initiation to the Consecrated Piarist Life. He professed for the first time on February 4, 2012, and continued his studies in Philosophy and Theology in San José. On August 25, 2018, a significant date for all the Piarists, he made his solemn vows, and in the middle of the Second Provincial Chapter, on December 3, 2018, he was ordained a deacon.
In the midst of his training, he was able to carry out his pastoral experience in the presence of Managua, and currently he works in the pastoral and pedagogical area of our school “San José de Calasanz” in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
We thank God for the vocation of Esteban, and of all the young people who sow hope and future in the Order. We ask the Lord for their faithfulness, and for that of all his religious Piarist brethren.
God bless you immensely and allow you to always get lower to children and young people most in need!
Willians Costa, Sch P.
