God’s Grace Cannot be Masked!

The Piarist Fathers of the Province of Asia Pacific joyfully celebrated the Solemn Profession of Religious Vows of Br. Nguyen Tan Phat Sch. P. of the Holy Child Jesus. The said profession was held amidst the current condition of the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Philippines. Fr. Lily Lorona Sch. P., rector of the Calasanz Juniorate Formation House 1 was delegated by Fr. Miguel Artola Sch. P., Father Provincial, to officiate the celebration together with the Fathers from Metro Manila area; Calasanz Juniorate Formation House 2, Calasanz International House, and Novaliches Community.

Due to the restrictions brought by this pandemic, a distinct characteristic was present in the celebration; the mask was on. Nevertheless, the prevailing condition did not hinder the grace of God, which he bestowed to Br. Nguyen Tan Phat, to flourish continuously in his life as a Piarist Religious. The same grace enables him to pronounce his lifetime commitment of service to the Order of the Pious Schools and the Church. In his homily, Fr. Lily shared that in religious life, less is more. It is through being in the service of those who have less, the poor children and youth that a Piarist religious will be able to experience the abundance of God’s grace. In his letter, Father General, Pedro Aguado Sch. P., reminds Br. Phat to always remember his religious name, “the Holy Child Jesus” as his life is dedicated to the education of the children.

The celebration indeed reminds us of God’s loving and guiding presence in the middle of this crisis. He strengthens us in our journey to religious perfection, the path in which we are called to live and profess. The smiles may not be seen behind those masks but God’s grace brings the ray of joy and fulfillment to the grateful and simple hearts because His grace cannot be masked!
