On Saturday, July 9, we had the first outing for the whole group. The day before we were able to get to know each other a little better and enjoy La Última comunión de San José de Calasanz and the Gaztambide museum. Grateful for the welcome of Betania and the attention of Fr. Zacarias and Fr. Ivan.

We headed to Getafe by bus, still a bit sleepy and already feeling the heat of these days. We divided into two large groups, Spanish-English and French to learn about Fr. Faustino Miguez’s path to holiness.

We were able to visit the San Faustino Miguez museum at the Calasancias school. We were welcomed by Mother Julia, who explained to us the key moments in Faustino’s life, his experience as a Piarist educator, his priestly life always in search of healing not only of souls but of the body, and his role as founder. We were able to recognize a model of holiness in Piarist life.

The other group was received by Fr. Celestino and Fr. Crispin, and visited the community where the saint lived and the St. Faustino Miguez space.

We make the change of groups after a lunch to regain strength offered by the Calasancias.

Later we were able to celebrate the Eucharist in the chapel of the Colegio de las Calasancias, where the remains of Saint Faustino are found. Fr. Romaric, from the province of Central Africa, presided.

After lunch at the Piarist school, Fr. Crispin showed us the Getafe school, discovering the more than 275 years of history of the Piarist presence.

At 16:00 we set off towards the Cerro de los Ángeles. Despite the heat, Father Ivan, Provincial of Betania, gave us an explanation of the history of Cerro de los Ángeles and the consecration of Spain to the Sacred Heart.

Afterwards we returned to Gaztambide to pray together and share dinner.

A long day where we were able to get to know each other better, share and celebrate the vocation received.
