On May 28, 2021, Bro. Gustave Munduyu made his perpetual vows in the parish of Saint Peter of Kikonka, in the hands of Father Evaristus Akem, Provincial Superior of the Province of Central Africa. This happy event was enhanced by the presence of Mgr. Edouard Kisonga, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Kinshasa. Also present were about twenty priests, several religious and a crowd of faithful who filled the church.
On May 29, 2021, Brother Gustave Munduyu was ordained deacon by Mgr. Kisonga in the same parish of St. Peter of Kikonka. Also present was the Bishop Emeritus of Idiofa, Mgr. Mbwol Mpassi. During the homily, Mgr. Kisonga recalled the role of the deacon which is to be a servant. He asked the new deacon to be a man of prayer who must live according to the Word of God and the respect of the three evangelical vows.
In his word of thanks, Deacon Gustave expressed his gratitude to his superiors, his community, his formators, as well as his family, especially his older brother who has always looked after him since the death of their parents. Father General’s word of welcome and encouragement to Deacon Gustave was read in the assembly.
After the mass of perpetual vows as after the mass of ordination, the celebration continued around a meal offered for this purpose. The Order of the Pious Schools, and particularly the Piarist Vicariate of Congo, is very happy to welcome a new confrere with perpetual vows.
We note the active presence of the Calasanctian Sisters who worked hard to make this double event a success. We thank the Lord for the life of our brother Gustave and implore God to reserve a fruitful ministry for him.
