The Itaka-Escolapios-Mexico Foundation aims to promote processes of awareness-raising, training and volunteering dedicated to social transformation, from the vision of St Joseph Calasanz to the works of the different presences that make up the Piarist Province of Mexico.<\/p>\n

Our projects and activities are aimed at responding to current needs, to our context and to the development of processes that lead from reflection to action and thus, as an Order, can contribute to building the Kingdom with the Piety and the Letters that characterise us.<\/p>\n

An example of this is the Leaders’ Workshop, a project that was born in our province with the aim of giving life to the pastoral work of the different schools through the Calasanz Movement, recognising the importance of leadership from a Christian and Piarist approach and committing ourselves to continue promoting formative processes that favour a change of mentality through concrete action, but above all through the love and example of Jesus.<\/p>\n

This project was born 13 years ago when some “crazy people” (lay and religious) saw the possibility of bringing together young people with very particular profiles from the different realities of the Province. The result was the first workshop, from which great fruits are still being harvested today.<\/p>\n

At present, the Leadership Workshop is a leadership formation programme based on the Piarist charism that characterises us; time has changed the needs and the way we have responded. Today we can mention that we have a Kids Leaders Workshop for children in the 5th year of primary school, a Junior Leaders Workshop for the 2nd year of secondary school, a High School Leaders Workshop for the 1st and 2nd year, a Parish Leaders Workshop, for teachers, for volunteers and a network for service and administrative staff.<\/p>\n

The TDL methodology is divided into three moments: “Thinking”, “Feeling” and “Acting”:<\/p>\n

THINK: The moment of thinking is the framework of the workshop, starting from three important stages, the first of which is self-knowledge, the second is the SWOT context, which refers to the analysis of the reality of my work, and finally the human formation.<\/p>\n

FEEL: The moment of feeling aims to recognise ourselves and understand our greatest challenges, our limitations and our abilities in order to see ourselves as leaders, engaging in a process of personal understanding from the perspective of Christian leadership and a vocational process; then the CALASANZIAN LEADERSHIP, how St Joseph Calasanz innovates and breaks new ground in many of his life processes and how he invites us to trust until the last minute.<\/p>\n

ACT: The time to act will offer us a space to commit to the call to change my reality through proactive, responsible and conscious leadership. It will be time to develop a project that we will carry out upon our return, as well as the way in which we will actively participate in our works and a space of commitment in which each of the participants will assume the role of leader of the province by creating spaces for reflection and encounter, as well as their active participation in the Calasanz Movement and pastoral activities.<\/p>\n

This year, the workshop for high school leaders took place on 21, 22 and 23 June at the Crist\u00f3bal Col\u00f3n University, which we would like to publicly thank for its willingness to host it. Thirty-eight students from our schools came to enjoy this experience: Instituto Carlos Pereyra from Puebla, Instituto Carlos Gracida from Oaxaca, Instituto Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Morelos from Tlaxcala and Colegio Crist\u00f3bal Col\u00f3n from Veracruz, making us the thirteenth generation of the workshop in which they have had this experience in a very special way.<\/p>\n

This is a leadership workshop, it is about looking to the youth and betting on them, trusting that through good accompaniment, as St Joseph Calasanz saw fit, they can come closer to God and build the Kingdom of God with all of us.<\/p>\n

We would like to thank all those who made this workshop for school leaders possible: the leaders of each school who accompanied the young people and for their active participation at all times; the participation of the Fraternity as a point of reference for unleashing Piarist life together with the Calasanz Movement, the presence of former students who have already experienced this workshop. Thank you for believing in this project and for participating with so much joy and enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

We want the next generations to have an even better project that is more systematic and structured to respond to future and current needs. That is why we are delighted to have invited different people with very special profiles who have built this project over the years, who have joined and participated in some of the generations or some of the projects with children, adolescents and young people, prioritising the participation of the Calasanz Mouvment, the Juniorate and Fraternity as central axes for future workshops.<\/p>\n
