Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Pious Schools,<\/p>\n

In this year 2025, the feast of our Holy Father, St. Joseph Calasanz, is clothed in a special light. We are celebrating his memory as part of the Jubilee Year convened by Pope Francis, and encouraged by Pope Leo XIV, under the motto Pilgrims of Hope.<\/em> We, as a Piarist family, feel deeply called to live this time as true pilgrims, walking together in the noble mission entrusted to us.<\/p>\n

History illuminates the present, and offers keys to recognize and orient ourselves. Calasanz lived in Rome for more than half a century, and during this time witnessed and participated in several Jubilees: the ordinary ones of 1600 and 1625, and the extraordinary ones of 1605 and 1621. Among all these Jubilees, the Holy Year of 1600, convened by Clement VIII, left an indelible mark on his life. At that time, Rome welcomed three million pilgrims (an unimaginable number for the time) in a vibrant atmosphere of faith, service and reconciliation.<\/p>\n

For Calasanz, this Jubilee was much more than just a devotional event. The grace of the Jubilee was soon translated into concrete commitment: catechizing pilgrims, helping the poor, accompanying the sick, administering the sacraments, visiting basilicas and serving wherever needed. This pastoral and charitable commitment was not just an extraordinary gesture to mark the Jubilee, but the beginning of a decisive change of direction. In this context, the path from which the Pious Schools were to emerge was consolidated.<\/p>\n

Today, four centuries later, we too are called to make this Holy Year more than just a time of celebration. May it be a kairos<\/em> in which hope becomes action and is reflected in concrete gestures of mercy, in which faith strengthens us, and in which our Piarist vocation is revitalized.<\/p>\n

We invite you to live the feast of St. Joseph Calasanz intensely in the Masses, prayers and celebrations of your Piarist presences, and to rediscover the profound meaning of the Jubilee: a time to return to the essential, to reconcile, to look at the world with a new heart and to serve with joy. Like him, who combined contemplation and action, pilgrimage and generous apostolate, we too can pass on the life of the Jubilee in our classrooms, communities, parishes and on the geographical and existential frontiers where our mission beats.<\/p>\n

Dear family of the Pious Schools, the Jubilee Year is a time of grace. Let us not let it pass by like a spectator at a procession. Let us enter into it. Let us walk with a firm step, as pilgrims of hope, <\/em>towards the horizon, that is the encounter with Jesus, encouraged by the witness of Our Holy Father and by the desire that every child and every young person may find in our works, a safe place to learn, grow and dream.<\/p>\n

May St. Joseph Calasanz, tireless pilgrim and servant of all, intercede for us and may the Lord grant us the grace to live this Jubilee Year with passion, creativity and missionary joy.<\/p>\n
