The Province of USA-PR has held a Calasanctian Congress at the headquarters of the Pontifical University Catholic of Ponce (Puerto Rico), on the occasion of the Calasanctian Jubilee Year. The keynote speaker was Fr. General, who had two interventions, the first focused on the educational contribution of Calasanz and the Order throughout history, and the second about the identity of the Piarist Ministry. Along with these papers, there was held a “discussion” involving Fr. Fernando Negro, Fr. Jos\u00e9 Andr\u00e9s Basols, Fr. Luis Alberto Cruz and Bro. Pedro Rivas, on various subjects on the life of the Pious Schools.<\/p>\n

Special mention deserves the CALASANCTIAN EXHIBITION<\/strong> organized by the young Piarist candidates in Ponce, under the coordination of Fr. Sergio Fernando Hern\u00e1ndez. It was an exhibition of high-quality information on Calasanz, the Order and the Province.<\/p>\n

The Bishop of Ponce, Msgr. Ruben Gonzalez, the President of the Catholic University, M. Jorge Iv\u00e1n V\u00e9lez and Cardinal Lacunza, Bishop of David (Panama), in addition to Fr. General, Fr. Provincial and numerous Piarists were present at the opening ceremony. The Emeritus Bishop of Ponce, Fr. Felix L\u00e1zaro Sch. P. was present in various acts of the Congress.<\/p>\n

Fr. General took the opportunity to personally speak with all religious, having a meeting with the candidates of the Province and a concluding meeting with all the religious, as well as a meeting with the Provincial Congregation. The Congress ended with the celebration of the Eucharist of the solemnity of Saint Joseph Calasanz.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to the Province for this Calasanctian Congress, and in particular to the Formation House of Ponce.<\/p>\n
