A meeting that deepens the sense of Piarist community and strengthens responsibility for common discernment.<\/em><\/p>\n

On Saturday, 18 October 2025, the Juniors\u2019 Meeting of the Order of the Pious Schools was held by videoconference, with the participation of formees from various Demarcations. The session opened with a prayer-song prepared by the brothers of the Vice-Province of India and the initial greeting of Fr Julio Alberto \u00c1lvarez; the main guest, H.E. Mons. Tesfaye Gabrisilasie, M.C.C.J. (Auxiliary Bishop of Addis Ababa), then delivered the address: \u201cCommunity and discernment: for Gospel leadership in religious life.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

After the talk, the juniors worked in groups on three guiding questions:<\/p>\n

Fruits<\/strong> of dialogue and discernment in community: unity in daily life, mutual understanding, inculturation (living with and learning from diverse cultures), and the strengthening of fraternal charity, which helps us \u201csee everyone as equal\u201d and to contribute our own ideas to common decisions.<\/p>\n

Difficulties<\/strong>: the intergenerational gap, cultural and linguistic diversity (contexts with different languages and traditions), and practical incoherence (agreeing on decisions that are then not implemented).<\/p>\n

Open questions<\/strong>: pointers for overcoming obstacles in order to cultivate a culture of dialogue that does not avoid problems but addresses them with parrhesia<\/em> and respect.<\/p>\n

In the dialogue with the speaker, participants raised several questions that revealed not only doubts but also a desire to grow, so as to live their vocation more consistently.<\/p>\n

At the end of the exchange with the Bishop, the Father General, Carles Gil i Saguer, addressed a message of encouragement to the juniors: \u201cYou are the hope of the Order; in your faces we see a life that continues to be born and a vocation maturing to serve children and young people, especially the most in need.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> The Father General shared a key insight: discernment is not mere individual reflection, but \u201ca process in the Spirit that takes place in community: listening to the Word, listening to one another, and together seeking what is faithful to the Gospel and builds up the Kingdom.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> He concluded by entrusting the path of the juniors to the Lord and to Mary, Mother of the Pious Schools, and invited them to live communion and mission with hope.<\/p>\n

The meeting concluded with the final prayer led by the juniors of the Province of USA\u2013PR, and with the confirmation of the commitment to continue fostering spaces for communal discernment that harmonise our service of the Piarist mission.<\/p>\n
