The Basque Cooperation Agency (Spain) has awarded Itaka Escolapios a humanitarian intervention in Bamenda-Cameroon. This intervention aims to contain the effects of the successive humanitarian and natural crises suffered by the populations of the area since 2016. They also want to improve people’s resilience to face the crises and guarantee food security for about 1,212 families, both displaced and host population, who are part of the educational community of the 3 Pious Schools in Futru \u2013 Nkwen.<\/p>\n

The Sponsor (Donors) of this project is the Basque Cooperation and Development Agency, an international partner with ITAKA ESCOLAPIOS NETWORK based in Spain and having a branch in Cameroon.<\/p>\n

The local partner through whom this project was carried out is the Order of the Pious Schools in the Province of Central Africa (precisely the Piarist Fathers of Bamenda, Cameroon). The beneficiaries are 1212 selected families of the pupils in the Primary Schools of the Piarist Fathers of Bamenda.<\/p>\n

We wish to express our gratitude to the Donors who have enabled us to respond to the needs of the families of our pupils in the locality. It should be noted that since the outbreak of the crisis in 2016, the highest victims have been the little children and youth and their families who have been deprived of basic needs of food and education. Most of them have abandoned education because schools have been closed, and there is a high risk of insecurity. Pastorally the Piarist Fathers have been accompanying and counseling them, hoping for an immediate and lasting solution to the crisis.<\/p>\n
