Papal thrones <\/strong><\/p>\n

The chairs for Pope Francis’ visit to Hungary were made by Tam\u00e1s \u00c1D\u00c1M and Vidor SZENTES, master carpenters of our vocational school in G\u00f6d, in the school’s workshop. In total 23 chairs had to be made in almost three weeks: one papal throne and two bishop’s chairs for each place, and also for Kossuth Square, where the final mass of Francis’ visit took place.<\/p>\n

Friday, 28 April 2023 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Pope Francis meets with priests and monks in St. Stephen’s Basilica. On this day Pope Francis greeted the people he met in the Basilica. He stopped for a long time next to Father Mih\u00e1ly KARDOS, who is in a wheelchair, and kissed his hand. Father Mih\u00e1ly is a former Piarist pupil of the Kecskem\u00e9t school, and a former classmate of the Piarists L\u00e1szl\u00f3 G\u00d6RBE and Gergely Bal\u00e1zs. Father Mih\u00e1ly has lost both legs due to illness and is currently exercising his priestly ministry in a hospital for the homeless.<\/p>\n

Saturday, 29 April 2023 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Pope Francis meets with the poor and refugees in the Church of St. Elisabeth of St. \u00c1rp\u00e1d’s House in R\u00f3zs\u00e1k Square. During the meeting, as part of the official programme, Jakab DE\u00c1K, our pupil from the Piarist school in Budapest, played a piece by Johann Sebastian Bach on the violin.<\/p>\n

Meeting of the Holy Father with the young people at the Papp L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Sports Hall\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

More than 11,000 young people met with Pope Francis at the Papp L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Sports Centre, including hundreds of Piarist students. During the meeting, several young people gave testimony of their faith, among them Bertalan KRAB\u00d3T, a 15-year-old student of the Piarist school in Szeged.<\/p>\n

Sunday, 30 April 2023. Mass in Kossuth Square. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Holy Father and Cardinal P\u00e9ter ERD\u0150 jointly presided the Mass, which was attended by several Piarists. The deacons at the Mass were also alumni of Piarist schools in Hungary.<\/p>\n

Meeting of Pope Francis with representatives of the academic and cultural world. <\/strong><\/p>\n

As the last part of the official programme, on Sunday afternoon the Holy Father visited the P\u00e1zm\u00e1ny P\u00e9ter Catholic University, where he met with representatives of academic and cultural life. The coordinator of this programme was Vikt\u00f3ria Csap\u00f3, head of communication of the Hungarian Province of the EPPJ.<\/p>\n

Pope Francis’ room at the Nunciature <\/strong><\/p>\n

During his visit to Hungary, the Holy Father stayed at the Embassy of the Holy See in Hungary. The room and its furnishings, reminiscent of a monastic cell, were designed by the architect D\u00e1vid T\u00d6R\u00d6K, an alumnus of the Piarist college in Budapest.<\/p>\n
