This Sunday we did the second scheduled trip of this Chapter; this time our destiny was Tlaxcala, so we could get to know the richness of Fray Pedro de Gante Institute and the José María Morelos Institute.
It has been an intense Sunday in which the life and the great welcome of our piarist presences in Mexico have become apparent once more. The first stop was at the Fray Pedro de Gante Institute, in Apizaco, which was founded by Fr Manuel Arcusa, back in 1962, and where the Chapter Fathers, together with the fraternities and piarist religious communities of Mexico were able to celebrate the eucharist presided by Fr Carlos Fragoso, Rector and Principal of this School. Later, some members of the fraternity, students, teachers and collaborators of the Homework Schools shared a series of testimonies.
Then, the Chapter Committee went to Instituto Morelos, to the Chiautempan Campus in the first place, where children of elementary and junior high students go to school, and then to the Ocotlán Campus, where the high school students get prepared. During these meetings, a good number of students and some people of their respective directives committees have had some interventions. Isaac Meza, a piarist junior, said that the ongoing prayer was the way he found Jesus and was also the beginning of a vocation whose dream is to extend the Pious School to every child and young person. The young students explained to us that the piarist fathers ask proximity, support and innovation from them.
During lunch time at Instituto Morelos, we heard Mariachi Music, some historical scenes about Mexico were played, and some customs from Tlaxcala as well. In the afternoon, the Chapter Fathers enjoyed their tour around Tlaxcala’s DownTown, a visit to the Plaza de Toros: Jorge ‘el Ranchero’ Aguilar, the Franciscans Ex-Convent (now a Cathedral) and finally, the Wall Paintings made by Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin at the Government Palace.
