Today was focused on the voting of the different propositions and proposals that have been presented and that will be guidelines for the General Congregation to carry out. At the end of the day Fr John Bosco Joseph presented the Piarist reality in Austria.
Today’s Eucharist, prepared by the Province of Central America and the Caribbean, was presided over by Provincial Fr Juan Alfonso Serra. During the homily, Fr Serra described an analogy between David and Herod and emphasized the importance of educating in will, in strength so we could be faithful to one’s conscience.
During the morning and afternoon, the Chapter Fathers voted on many of the propositions and proposals that were presented. These are initiatives that the Demarcations or the Chapter Fathers presented for its approval and subsequent promotion that shall be done by the General Congregation. With concern about issues of abuse, the network of communicators or the articulation of an institutional proposal for online formation, the proposals that were presented are very varied and have been voted through a telematic app. In a relaxed atmosphere of participation, the Chapter Fathers had the opportunity to share their contributions to each one of the proposals that were voted on.
In addition, the young people who took part in the Piarist Synod and who will participate in the last part of the Chapter are arriving at the 48th General Chapter. Roland Márkus from Hungary, John Michael Dion from Asia Pacific and Thomas Placide Mandona from West Africa arrived at the Chapter House. Roland is a Deacon who is a teacher in Budapest where he is finishing his studies, John Michael, is another Deacon who is a teacher at a college in Davao (Philippines), while Thomas is in his final year of theology at the University of Ivory Coast. The Chapter Fathers also welcomed Fr Vicente Climent who, after completing his quarantine period, joined the Chapter work in the Main Room this afternoon.
At the end of the day, Fr John Bosco Joseph presented the Piarist reality in Austria where the Piarists are present in the cities of Vienna, Horn and Krems with two schools for 530 children, as well as two parishes and two churches.
