On 2 May 2024, the Hungarian Conference of Religious held its General Assembly in Budapest. Viktor Zsódi, Provincial Superior of the Pious Schools in Hungary, was elected President of the Hungarian Conference of Religious.
The new President of the Hungarian Religious Conference is Fr Viktor Zsódi, who will fulfil this role until 2027. The Assembly of Religious thanked Archabbot Cirill, who has led the Hungarian Religious Conference so far, for his diligent work.
The assembly also took care of the election of the members of the government, who will be in office for three years. Attila András Jesuit Provincial, Father Szabolcs Barta Lazarist Provincial, Father Piusz Berhidai Franciscan Superior and Father Cirill Hortobágyi T. Arciabad of Pannonhalma.
At the meeting, the heads of the Institutes examined the report prepared by the General Council and approved the budget for 2024.
The Conference of Major Superiors is under the supreme authority of the Holy See. The aim of the Conference is to support each Institute in the pursuit of its specific objectives, to discuss matters of common interest to the Institutes and to promote concerted co-operation between the Institutes, with the Bishops’ Conference and with the public authorities.
