On 27 May, the meeting of the Fifth Advisory Council of ITAKA-Escolapios began in order to continue to determine the direction and purpose of the Construction of the Pious Schools with the combined forces of the Order of Pious Schools and the Fraternity of Pious Schools. The motto of the Fifth Advisory Council is: Our common place of participation and mission.

The work programme of the 5th Advisory Council will extend over three days. The first sessions will focus on the journey, the present and the challenges that arise in the present of ITAKA-Escolapios. The rest of the sessions will be dedicated to dialogue and planning the next stage of this process of Participation and Mission through ITAKA-Escolapios.

Javier Aguirregabiria (President of the ITAKA-Escolapios Network) welcomed the 42 participants to the meeting. He gave an opening speech to the 5th Advisory Council, in which he highlighted the historical development of ITAKA from its beginnings to the present, while emphasising the joys and challenges of ITAKA-Escolapios’ performance.

Father Pedro Aguado then gave a comprehensive and in-depth overview of the present of the Pious Schools in the context of the foundation and implementation of ITAKA-Escolapios and in coordination with the Fraternity of Pious Schools. The development of the speech was an awareness of how much the Order has grown and the great challenges this growth brings to the Pious Schools as a whole. The current challenge is to continue to build up the Pious Schools so that they can participate and share more and better in the mission.
