The Piarist Community Calasanctianum in Rome, Italy, reopened this academic year for Piarists pursuing higher and postgraduate studies. This general house is at the service of Piarist demarcations for those who wish to professionalize in an area of study in the human sciences and theology. The Universities currently attended are: Pontifical Gregorian University and Salesian University.

However, in this new era in which efforts are being made to change the culture of the Order, the House of Calasanctianum is understood as a formation opportunity for the integral sustainability of the demarcations. An opportunity for formation not only academically, but also in the life of the Pious Schools according to the nuclei and keys of inspiration established by the General Chapter, and to deepen our Piarist spirituality.

An opportunity to rethink and reposition our Piarist practise, starting from the Calasanctian roots that inspire our identity and our actions. The community currently consists of two young people from Central Africa, Fr Patrick Foumane, Diac. Austin Kanjo, two young men from West Africa, Fr Pacome Gnada, Fr Louis Yobba, two young men from India, Brothers Naveen Vincent and Sayun Jhadia, and one from the Asia-Pacific Province, Brother Luong Pham.

During his visit to the Montemario community on Saturday, 28 September, Father General emphasised the change of mentality that we must recognise and practise according to the chapter lines of the Pious Schools, which must also be integrated into the life of the General Houses as an exercise in the renewal of community life today.

Father General and the General Congregation have appointed Father Julio Alberto Álvarez as Rector of the Community, who took up his mission as accompanier of the Montemario Community. This appointment was confirmed in the presence of the community and Father General Pedro Aguado, who presided over the Eucharistic celebration.
