On 7 and 8 November, the Pious Schools took part in the II International Forum of Catholic Alumni Associations, which was held in Rome and sponsored by the Hungarian Catholic School Alumni Association.
The Forum began with a Mass and a talk by Monsignor Paul Desmond Tighe of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Education and Culture.
Representing our order, Father Carles Gil i Saguer, coordinator of the general alumni team, took part in a panel discussion with alumni leaders from other religious orders, including Jesuits, Benedictines and Salesians.
This meeting proved to be an enriching space for sharing experiences, strategies, challenges and opportunities to strengthen the Alumni of Catholic institutions.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to speak with representatives of the Holy See as well as representatives of international organisations and the head of the World Network of Catholic School Alumni (OMAEC). Also present were the heads of the International Organisation of Catholic Schools (OIEC), UNESCO and the United Nations, who expressed their support for the initiatives of the Catholic communities in the field of education and training of former students.
Such meetings emphasise the importance of building global Alumni networks that contribute to the common good because of Christian identity and values.
We would like to thank Mr Pál Strommer, who has been the President of the Piarist Alumni Association of Budapest for several years, as well as the current President and Treasurer for their participation in the meeting.
