On the day of the Epiphany of the Lord, 6 January 2025, Brother Pham Van Luong, of Vietnamese origin and member of the Asia-Pacific Province, professed his solemn vows in the Order of Pious Schools from the hands of Father Pedro Aguado Cuesta, Father General. During the homily, Fr Pedro Aguado re-emphasised the importance of the “yes”, which is blessed and inspired by the candidate, the Order and ultimately by God Himself. Luong was also encouraged to be a Piarist needed by children and youth as a new Calasanz. At the end of the Eucharistic celebration, Brother Luong spoke some beautiful words of thanksgiving. He recognised the grace he had received through the company of so many people who had accompanied him on his vocation journey.
The solemn profession took place in the church of St Pantaleo and St Joseph of Calasanz. During the solemn profession, Brother Luong promised to be forever ‘a little member of the mystical body of the Pious Schools’ – said Brother Luong. Fr. Jozsef Urban, General Assistant for Asia, who accompanied him during his vocational life and shared with him the spiritual exercises before to his profession. He also read a message of support and prayer from Fr Miguel Artola, Provincial for Asia and the Pacific. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was also attended by the community of the Piarist Fathers of San Pantaleo, the community of the Calasanctianum in Montemario, the general community of the Piarist Sisters, Father Claudio M., Rector of the Nazarene Community, and the prists and sisters who are friends of Luong, among other guests.
Brother Luong Phan Van of Divine Mercy Sch. P. now lives in Rome. He is studying for his licentiate in theology at the Gregorian University. We wish our brother a future full of mission in piety and letters.
