As part of Calasanz Day, 21 young members of the Calasanz Youth Society (YCS) – Cebu Chapter, lived a meaningful spiritual experience alongside the Piarist Fathers at the Piarist Postulancy House of Formation. The gathering, held from 24 to 25 April, blended moments of prayer, formation, and fraternal fellowship.
The day was marked by a deep experience of faith. Participants joined in the solemn prayer of Vespers, attended a talk on the Venerable Glicerio Landriani —companion of Saint Joseph Calasanz and a prominent figure in the history of the Order— and took part in a Taizé-style evening prayer, where meditative chant and silence created a space for inner reflection.
There were also moments of fraternal encounter, such as the community evening, which strengthened the bonds among the young people, and the spiritual culmination of the gathering: the reverent celebration of the Holy Mass, centre of Christian life.
The event enabled the young people not only to deepen their relationship with God, but also to reflect on the life and mission of Saint Joseph Calasanz, the inspiration behind the Piarist vocation. The serene and prayerful atmosphere of the formation house provided a setting conducive to encountering God through silence, prayer, and fraternity.
The celebration highlighted the YCS’s commitment to the spiritual growth of its members and to the living out of the core values of the Calasanctian tradition: piety, study, service, and community.
