Father General Carles Gil, the Assistant for Asia Fr Joseph Urban, and the General Treasurer Fr János Valaczka visited the Vice Province of India from 2–7 January in Bangalore. The primary purpose of the visit was to work together on integral sustainability, in line with the mandate of the General Chapter.

The main meeting – held with the participation of the Vice Provincial Congregation – proved both fruitful and enlightening for all. Integral sustainability is, in many ways, where the vision becomes concrete: it is the point where our priorities are translated into decisions, habits, structures, and shared responsibility. It is also where we need Calasanzian patience, endurance, and tenacity – the steady perseverance that keeps a mission faithful and effective over time. This work cannot be done without the full participation and commitment of the local reality; in this case, the Vice Province itself. For that reason, the meeting was especially encouraging: the dedication and readiness of the Vice Provincial Congregation were clear. We are in this together.

After the meeting, Fr János visited our presence in Jharkhand – the school, hostel (boarding), and parish in Kamda, as well as the formation house in Torpa. At the same time, Father General, remaining in Bangalore, met personally with all the Juniors, spoke with the formation team (Fr Rayison and Fr Shanto), and held a community meeting.

We thank God for this grace-filled opportunity, and we thank all our brothers in India who made these days of shared discernment, fraternity, and mission possible.
