With a simple ceremony this October 4, 2018 in the hall Luis Carlos Galan Sarmiento of the National Capitol, took place the imposition of the Order of Democracy Simon Bolivar in the degree Cross Comendador to the Piarist Fathers for 70 years of continuous work in Colombia. The Honorable Representative to the Chamber, Dr. David Racero (former pupil of Calasanz Bogotá 2003) made the official delivery of the insignia and resolution to Father Provincial Juan Carlos Sevillano, Sch. P., as a recognition that keeps us steadfast in the task of educating children and adolescents in the four cities where we are present.
The decoration Order of Democracy “Simon Bolivar” is conferred by the House of Representatives of the Congress of the Republic, instituted as a tribute to the Liberator; it was established to exalt natural and/or juridical persons who, in favor of democracy, science, teaching, religion and culture deserve a great distinction that emanates from the Popular Sovereignty represented by this Legislative Branch of the Public Power.
The ceremony was attended by HR. Dr. Gabriel Vallejo (former Piarist pupil of the Calasanz Pereira 1993), Piarist Religious from the communities of Bogotá, alumni of the Calasanz schools of the Pious School in Colombia, representatives of the Councils of Parents, associations of parents, teachers, collaborators and students from the Calasanz schools in Bogotá. To entertain the ceremony, a group of students from the vocal seminary and children’s dance projection group at Calasanz school of Bogotá, presented several events that got a smile from each one of the attendees.
In the words of Father Provincial, “To be today in the Congress of the Republic, with the presence of all of you, where each one represents a different aspect of our beloved Colombia (a political current, a professional option, a different service in our schools and society), makes us think that the educational offer of the Piarists has been, is and should be an education for all, where each of its students is accompanied through the educational, formative and evangelization process, to discover their place in the world or, or what Calasanz called, the Inward Inclination and mission in Society. ”
We thank God, the participants and all those who are part of this Calasanctian family. This recognition is also of you who believe in the value of education in Letters and Piety as a transformative means of Society and of the Church.
