On March 18, the act of laying the first stone for the construction of the Digital Manufacturing Laboratory of the School of Architecture (FADIG) took place at the Cristóbal Colón University, Campus Torrente, in Veracruz, Mexico.

During it, academic authorities, teachers, students, graduates and special guests were present.

The academic head of the degree in Architecture, Mtro. Arturo Barragán Hermida, pointed out that the accelerated technological development has reached all disciplines, so the Career of Architecture has not been the exception: “Within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Bachelor of Architecture, the initiative ‘Let’s add wills and build realities’ was presented,  in order to carry out the construction project of the Digital Manufacturing Laboratory, with the support of graduates, teachers, public and private sector, business chambers, associations, companies linked to the UCC that supported through donations, a fact that today becomes a reality, by laying this first stone.”

Dr. and Fr. José Manuel Asún Jordán, in turn said: “The first stone means one more step, remembering the trajectory of our University; we promote together to create the right environment for each of our students to flourish in the best way developing fully in every way, not only as excellent professionals … We put the seeds so that our students flourish and are also bearers of solidarity, justice and peace, in these turbulent times that we have had to live”.

Later we proceeded to the religious blessing and laying of the first stone. This acquired the modality of time capsule in acrylic, consisting of the edition of a local newspaper of the day, a coin in progress, the book A life that pulsates, by the remembered Fr. José F. Unanua Pagola; an institutional souvenir, a photograph of the academic area of Architecture and a letter addressed to the students of the future, within 50 years, written by the rector himself.
