On Saturday, August 6, 2022, took place at our Piarist Parish Church of Cité Vérte Yaoundé, Cameroon, the Priestly Ordination of four Piarist Religious. They were: Brothers Jean Sylvain Ottou, André Serge Fouda, Brian Womei, and Brandon Sekuna.

During the Eucharistic celebration, the Chief celebrant and ordaining minister Mgr. George Nkuo, Bishop of the Diocese of Kumbo, Cameroon, admonished the brothers to fully and joyfully offer themselves to the Church. This is to be done through the practice of the evangelical counsels and following the Calasanctian spirituality and charism. “The church needs Priests that are authentic witnesses of Christ by their way of life and the testimony of their faith.”

Speaking before the final blessing, the Provincial Superior, Fr. Evaristus Akem Sch. P., thanked God for the priceless gift of the Pious Schools in the Church and the gift of Piarist vocations. He encouraged the newly ordained to be ambassadors of love and communion in their various religious communities, keeping in mind that the children and youth expect much from them as authentic followers of Calasanz.

Worth noting is the official handing of the Letter of Brotherhood (Carta de Fraternidad’) to Mgr. George for his closeness and collaboration in the growth of the Piarist Mission, especially in Cameroon. After reading this letter from the General Superior on behalf of the entire Order to Mgr. George Nkuo, the Provincial Superior, thanked him for his constant encouragement and support to the Order of the Pious.

Present at the Ordination were Piarists from different parts of the Province, biological families and relatives of the ordained brothers, a host of Consecrated persons, children and young persons from our missions, and Christians of our parish of Yaoundé.

We remain very thankful to the Order who has assisted us in forming these brothers and all who have helped them answer God’s call in the Order of the Pious Schools.

Fr. Evaristus Akem Ndi Sch. P.
