The Mayor of Caldes de Montbui (Catalonia) has proposed the Piarist Father Josep Artigas be awarded the Medal of Honour of the City.
“Père Jo”, as he is popularly known, has been in Senegal for nearly 50 years, always working alongside young people, with particular attention to the most vulnerable, educating them through vocational training, particularly in agriculture, and socio-cultural centres, with the sport as a unifying element.
He has been Vice-Provincial of Senegal and the first Provincial of the Province of the Pious Schools of West Africa.
