The presence of the Piarists in Guatemala has only recently emerged, thanks to the fortunate audacity of the demarcations of USA-PR, Californias, Mexico and the General Congregation, who are gradually sharing the charism of Calasanz in this context of Mayan roots.
Fr. Aarón Julio Cahuantzi (Province of Mexico), Fr. Rubén Plata (Province USA-PR), Fr. José Guadalupe García Jasso (Province USA-PR), Dn. Francisco López Jiménez (Province of Mexico), Br. Cristian Bacar (Province USA-PR) and the Junior José Ángel (Vice-Province of Californias ). P. Julio Alberto Álvarez, General Assistant for the Americas, accompanied them at the process of the Chapter process.
We have found the Kingdom of God and Calasanz through the new Piarist presence in the blessings and challenges of the community in Guatemala. We want to live the keys of the life of the Order in communion and vocational authenticity. Currently, the Piarist presence is present in three schools and a parish in the midst of Mayan culture.
