During the IX Provincial Chapter of Mexico, Father Sergio Fernando HERNÁNDEZ AVILÉS of the Most Holy Trinity was elected at the age of 66 years. He was born on August 17, 1956, in the city of Puebla, Mexico. He is currently exercising his piaristic mission in the General House of Veracruz at Cristobal Colon University.
Fr. Hernández made his first simple profession on August 23, 1980, his solemn profession on August 17, 1985, and his priestly ordination in Mexico on February 15, 1986.
The Provincial-designate has been principal, rector and provincial assistant. He was also provincial superior of Mexico from 1999to 2008; from 2009 to 2015 he was assistant general for the Americas. From 2015-2020, he lived in the province USA-PR and worked as a formator of juniors and prenovices in Puerto Rico. Father Sergio Fernando has philosophical and theological studies with a specialisation in morality from the Pontifical University of Mexico and is a Certified Public Accountant from the Autonomous University of Puebla.
