The centrality of the mission and the ministry of the Pious Schools is the proclamation of the Gospel through education. In order to reinforce its evangelization and pastoral work in our presence and respond to the vulnerability given from the reality of holidays, the undeveloped talents, the powerless skills and the trauma experience of children and young people have, due to the current Anglophone socio-political crisis, the Piarist fathers of Futru/Bamenda through the socio-educative centre have organized for the month of July a series of activities aiming at developing talents, empowering young people with practical skill and promoting healthy, educational and socio-cultural leisure activities.
Primarily, this youth empowerment with practical skills will aim at increasing knowledge and skills in cake baking and bakery management, providing life skills, fostering self-reliance, improving household income and increasing job creation. It will be realized in two instances, the beginner’s program from the July 7 to 8, and the advanced cake tutorial program which will be in two phases, from July 12 to 15, and July 19 to 22, 2023. Alongside, there will also be the making of liquid soap, eau de Javel, soap. And this will be done from July 12 to 16, 2023. The formators of these tutorials are Piarist brothers and volunteers.
Secondarily, the Calasanz Colony which aims at not only to develop the practice of healthy and educational leisure, but also to inculcate in children and young people the notion of the dignity of human person, culture of leisure, the promotion of excellence, internal and external tourism, the mixing of children and young people of different social branches and multilingualism. This will be in two levels. Firstly, at the local level, with the holiday classes, socio-cultural and sportive activities, computer and music classes. It will take place from July 4 to 20, and the lodging colony which will be held in Saint Anne’s High School (SAHISCOL) – Limbe Cameroon from the July 21 to 27, 2023. We are expecting 600 participants for these activities.
