On 15 June, Krzysztof Świderski of the Meek and Humble Jesus was ordained a priest. The Eucharistic celebration for the ordination took place in the church of the Piarist parish of Our Lady of Mercy in Wieczysta in Krakow. He shared his great joy with the guests: his family, especially his mother and brother, the Piarists of the presences of the Mother Province of Poland and Slovakia, the Piarists and religious of other congregations, the parish priest of his hometown, his friends from different stages of life, a large number of altar servers of the Piarist parishes in Krakow, as Krzysztof is involved in youth ministry in this parish.
In his homily, Artur Ważny, Bishop of Sosnowiec, chose the words of the preface of the consecration liturgy as the central theme. The Church has this principle ‘lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivendi’, i.e. as one prays, so one believes, so one lives. So if we want to know how we should live as priests, we have to see how the Church believes,” said Mgr Ważny. Father General Pedro Aguado emphasised in his words to Krzysztof that his priesthood is both a gift and a mission. It is a gift for the Church and above all for the children and young people who can find a father and teacher in a Piarist.
The next day, on Sunday, Fr Krzysztof Świderski celebrated the first Mass in his parish in Świniarsko. It is a wonderful place with extraordinary Beskid landscapes and its characteristic folklore. The sermon was preached by his friend from university, the Benedictine priest Mikołaj Jastrzębski.
