On Saturday, 18th February, we celebrated in the Pious Schools an event that represents two great joys, the first for the one who received the gift of the Diaconate and the second for the growth of the Pious Schools in Timor Leste. Pedro Da Cruz is the first young piarist from Timor Leste to be ordained deacon in the Pious Schools.
The liturgical celebration was presided over by Mgr Angelo Vincenzo Zani, current Archivist and Librarian of the Holy See. The main concelebrants were Father Provincial of Betania, Ivan Ruiz, and Father General Pedro Aguado, at the Generalate of San Pantaleo, Rome.
The religious of the communities of San Pantaleo, Montemario and Nazareno, Fr. Daniel Hallado (superior of the community of Makili, in Timor Leste), the Piarist Sisters, as well as friends, and the Ambassador of Timor Leste to the Holy See, were present at the celebration. Monsignor Zani highlighted in his sermon the importance of the diaconal ministry in the Church as a sign of service to the neediest and the path of holiness that Peter walks through the sacramental signs and the living of the Gospel day by day.
We ask God, Calasanz and the Virgin Mary to make very fruitful the vocation and mission of the Piarists in Atauro Island, Timor Leste, so that many may continue the Calasanctian work following the way of the Lord Jesus Christ.
