The Provincial Chapter of Asia Pacific (Japan-Philippines-Vietnam) has elected Fr. Miguel ARTOLA OTAMENDI, of the Mother of God, as Provincial Superior of the Demarcation. Fr. Miguel was born on 28 March 1948 in Tolosa, Spain. He belongs to the current Emmaus Province but has been registered in the Asia Pacific Province since 2006.
Fr. Miguel Artola began his Piarist journey in the novitiate in 1963. He made his profession of solemn vows on 25 December 1971 and was ordained priest on 29 December 1973.
The newly elected Fr. Provincial has been local superior on several occasions; he has also been major superior in the former vice-province of Vasconia from 1991-1995; then he was provincial superior of the former vice-province of Brazil from 1995-2006; he was vice-provincial superior of the former vice-province of Japan-Philippines from 2007-2020; and appointed provincial superior of the present Province of Asia Pacific from 2020-2022.
