Fr. General has spent a few days in the community of Atambua, the second stage of his trip to Indonesia. There are living three religious and ten candidates, who have their first year of Piarist training experience, prior to the pre-novitiate, which takes place in Yogyakarta. Fr. General spoke personally with the religious and with each one of the aspirants, met the Bishop of Atambua and participated at the closing of the quarter term of the “Learning with Calasanz”, a Non-Formal School carried on by our brothers, with more than 100 students.
Several meetings were held with the community and young people, as well as a meeting with the lay people who collaborate with our mission in Atambua. Also, Fr. General participated in a training session on “The educational challenges in Timor”, organized for us in one of the Diocesan schools in the city.
Fr. General visited, of course, the construction of our boarding school, provided for the formation of a hundred boys from the area and that will open within a few months.
Our presence in Indonesia, which already has two communities, goes ahead little by little, with lots of encouragement and commitment. We give thanks to God for all that we are living in Yogyakarta and Atambua, and pray for the life and mission of our brothers.
