At the end of the last session of the morning, Father General made a very important announcement to the Advisory Council, both on behalf of the General Congregation of the Order and the General Council of the Fraternity. According to the Organising Document of the Itaka Escolapios Network, the two teams are jointly responsible for appointing the President and the General Coordinator of the Network, in the latter case after consultation with the Board of Trustees. These appointments should be made at the same time as this Advisory Board.
Thus, after consultation and appropriate contrast between the parties involved, the General Congregation and the General Council have decided to appoint Fr Juan Alfonso Serra, Provincial of Central America and the Caribbean, as the new President of the Itaka Escolapios Network. He replaces Fr Javier Aguirregabiria, who has been President of the Network since its foundation.
As for the General Coordinator, the General Congregation and the General Council have agreed to reappoint Mr. Igor Irigoyen, who has held this position in recent years.
After this announcement and Father General’s words of thanks, especially to Father Javier, he received unanimous and prolonged applause from all the participants in gratitude for his fundamental service to the Itaka-Escolapios network.
