With great joy and hope, the Assembly of the Fraternity of the Province of Mexico took place on 4 and 5 May 2024 at the Ibarra Retreat House in San Andrés Cholula, Puebla. The title of the meeting was “The Fraternity on the path of synodality”.

The main objective of the meeting was to evaluate the path that the Fraternity has taken in the Province of Mexico, based on the knowledge and analysis of the testimonies of the members of the Fraternity in the works of extracurricular formation, with the aim of developing proposals that guarantee the synodal framework created by the Church and the Order to the outside world.

The central themes were reflections on synodality and the testimony of the Fraternos who collaborate in parishes, homes, welcoming houses for homeless children, and catechesis.

Significant for the opening was the message that Father Sergio Fernando Hernández Avilés, Provincial of Mexico, addressed to the participants; the (virtual) conference “Living synodality as a way to renew our religious culture” by Father Pedro Aguado Cuesta. Pedro Aguado Cuesta, Superior General of the Order; and the (virtual) panel discussion entitled “Reflections on synodality as a Reference for Strengthening the Fraternity” by Igor Irigoyen, General Coordinator of the Itaka Escolapios Foundation and Fr Jordi Vilá Font, Provincial of Catalonia and Coordinator of the General Synodality Team.

During the Eucharistic celebration, several members of the Fraternity renewed their pledge within the Fraternity for another year. Ángel Díaz Rosas made his pledge within the Fraternity and the teacher Emma Illescas Navarro, from the Piarist presence of Veracruz, made her Definitive Promise.

We appreciate the participation of all the participants in the other activities organised by the Fraternity Council.

The fruits were important. We prayed to continue building Pious Schools in a synodal way, in mutual accompaniment and with the support of the Piarist Fathers.
