On 11 April, the Piarist religious Jardel Machado was ordained priest through the laying on of hands of Dom Nivaldo dos Santos Ferreira, Auxiliary Bishop of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, in our Piarist Parish of Nossa Senhora das Graças in Governador Valadares.
It was a beautiful Piarist celebration, preceded by the assembly of the Piarists of Brazil, held in the same city during the previous days, and by a vocational meeting with young people from our presences. Hundreds of people from the Fraternity, parishes, schools, the social centres of Itaka-Escolapios, the Calasanz Movement, as well as family members and friends, took part.
Jardel had belonged since childhood to our Piarist parish in Valadares. He took part in parish life, became a member of the Fraternity, and began his Piarist vocational journey already as an adult.
We now give thanks to the Lord for his vocation. And we ask Him to continue accompanying his generous response and his new stage as a Piarist religious and priest.
