The Betania Gathering 2025 was held on 12 and 13 December at Saint Joseph Calasanz School in Valencia (Spain), bringing together the Piarist family in a space of encounter, formation and shared life.

This second edition, organised by the Provincial Team for Charismatic Identity, sought to offer a shared time to celebrate Piarist identity, strengthen community bonds and continue to nourish hope from the roots of the charism of Saint Joseph Calasanz. The gathering brought together a diverse group of participants: religious and laypeople, educators, families, former students and friends of the Piarist family.

A programme focused on celebrating our Identity

The activities unfolded over two days. On Friday 12, the gathering began with the Betania Music concert in the auditorium of Calasanz Valencia. Those present enthusiastically enjoyed the first Betania Music concert, an initiative that sets to music the mottos of each year, together with some classics from the Piarist musical repertoire.

Saturday 13 was devoted to reflection and community life. A particular highlight was the formation session “Nourishing Hope from Our Roots”, given by Fr. Javier Alonso, General Delegate of the Secretariat for the Irreplaceable Ministry, who offered a deep reflection followed by a shared dialogue among the participants.

After a fraternal meal around the traditional paella, there was a relaxed gathering over coffee, with a dynamic of sharing about the Piarist mission. The afternoon included a visit to the school and a walk towards the historic centre of Valencia, which had to be interrupted due to heavy rain.

The Betania Gathering 2025 has once again been an experience of family, shared mission and identity, which encourages us to continue walking together. We hope to continue celebrating and strengthening our belonging to the Piarist family in future editions.
