On Saturday, December 3, Fr. General, accompanied by Fr Pierre Diatta, solemnly opened the Calasanctian Jubilee Year in the parish of SaInt Peter of Kikonka, in the Diocese of Kisantu, (Democratic Republic of Congo).
Kikonka is the latest Piarist foundation. We have there a community of three Piarists who have accepted this mission, which consists of a parish, two elementary schools and two high schools. At the end of the opening of the Jubilee Year Eucharist, Fr. General and the Bishop of Kisantu signed the institutional agreement that regulates the presence of the Order in the diocese.
A beautiful Piarist day, which has counted with the participation of many children and young people, families, responsible for the parish, diocesan priests presided over by the Bishop Mgr Fidèle Nsielele, both communities Piarists in Congo and Fr. Provincial of Central Africa with the Provincial Assistant Fr. Felicien Mouendji.
The school children sang the anthem to Saint Joseph Calasanz, and did it so at full lung. We thank God for this day that in which Saint Joseph Calasanz has come to a new place, full of children and young people who welcome the Piarists with cheerful and hopeful mood.
