The religious participating in the Provincial Chapter have elected Fr. Luis Oswaldo Espinoza Fernández de San José de Calasanz, Sch.P., as Major Superior of the Nazareth Province for the next four years.
Fr. Luis Oswaldo Espinoza Fernández of San José de Calasanz is a priest of the Piarist Fathers of the Nazareth demarcation. He was born on November 10, 1966, in Cañar, Ecuador. He is 55 years old. He began his novitiate in the former Colombia-Ecuador Province on January 15, 1987. He professed simple vows on January 16, 1988 and confirmed them in solemn vows on August 27, 1994. Luis Oswaldo was ordained priest on July 8, 1995. He has specialized in the educational area, obtaining a master’s degree in Education and Social Development, as well as a master’s degree in Educational Management and Leadership. During his years of religious life, he has assumed positions as Vicarial Superior of the former Vicariate of Ecuador, Rector of the community of Loja, Provincial Assistant of the current Nazareth Province in the area of ministry from 2012 to the present. Fr. Espinoza Fernandez has served as director of various educational levels in the city of Loja, and various formative and pastoral activities in educational and parish works in the city of Saraguro.
