It was 10:00 a.m. when the entrance song rang out at the Cathedral of Saint Anthony of Padua in Ziguinchor. Entirely renovated, the circumstances are almost extraordinary since the Mass of this day is presided over by Mgr Paul Abel MAMBA, current bishop of Tambacounda (he had, then Bishop of Ziguinchor, launched the rehabilitation work). But the inauguration of the “new Cathedral” is not the main reason for the celebration of this day. Indeed, the Diocese is gathering to celebrate presbyteral and diaconal ordinations. 5 seminarians, candidate to the Diaconate and 2 deacons, candidate to the presbyterate, among them Fr. Noël Bouyondé Sambou of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a Piarist religious of the West African Province.

In the thanksgiving, Mgr Fulgence Coly, diocesan administrator, recognized in all these events signs of the glory of God. Then, Mgr Paul Abel invited the new ordinands in his homily to recognize in turn signs of Christ in each of the events of their lives, especially in the grace of the priesthood that puts them at the service of the people of God, a service that is not without sacrifice.

The Eucharistic celebration ended at around 1:30 p.m. in joy with all the faithful present and the Piarist family richly represented.
