On Saturday 6 July, three new Piarist priests, Frédéric Nialo NIANG, Jean Paul PREIRA and Louis Yoba DIATTA, received the sacrament of Holy Orders from Monsignor Martin Boucar Tine, Bishop of the Diocese of Kaolack, in the Church of Sainte Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus in Sokone. The new priests were introduced to their new task and invited to live united with Christ, like branches with the vine, in the love and constant presence of the Lord in order to bear fruit. For Msgr Martin, the love to which he invites them is nourished by personal and community prayer, which has its source and fulfilment in the Eucharist, celebrated and frequently adored Holy Sacrament.

At the end of his homily, the prelate gave the young priests some advice on how to be successful in their mission. His words were: “Be aware of the importance of the mission to which Christ is calling you. May the Eucharist, of which you will be servants, always remind you of the friendship that the Lord has sown in you and may it make you produce fruits of holiness to the glory of God the Father”.

He also took the opportunity to thank the parents of the chosen ones of the day for agreeing to place their sons at the disposal of the Church in general and the Order of the Pious Schools in particular.

The ordination of these three new priests will be remembered in the history of the Pious Schools of West Africa as a moment of grace and joy for its members, but also for their physical families and friends.
