Father General and Father József Urbán carried out a sectorial visit to the Piarist presences in Indonesia in the last days of August and the first days of September. The visit was originally planned for April last year, but had to be postponed until September. As we all know, the focus of this general visitation is on initial formation, the religious in the first six years of their adult Piarist life and the management of the districts.

The visit began in Atambua, where the aspirancy and novitiate are located. Fr General then visited Kupang where we have just opened a juniorate. A retreat was also held in the town of Kupang with the eight young adult religious of the Province who are active in Indonesia and Timor-Leste. The visit ended in Yogyakarta, where the juniorate, prenovitiate and postulancy are located.

Father General spoke with each of the young men in initial formation and with their formators. Fr Pedro and Fr József met with the formators and with each of the communities as well as with the Betania Asiatica Council. As the schedule did not allow for a longer visit, the religious from Timor-Leste travelled to Indonesia to meet with Father General.

Fr. Fernando Negro, who has received obedience for Indonesia, accompanied Father General and Father József Urbán on their visit to have a first contact with the Piarist reality that accompanies the Piarist Province of Bethany in Asia.

We pray for this nascent presence of the Order in Asia, filled with Piarist life and spirit.
