Belonging to the Province of USA–PR since 2021, the Pious Schools of Cuba are enjoying the Lord’s favour in this Jubilee Year of Hope.
On Saturday 26 July, the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, co-patrons of the Order, Br Ernesto Cuba Martínez of Divine Providence, Sch.P., made his profession of simple vows.
Subsequently, on the eve of the Solemnity of our Holy Founder, on 24 August, Br Pedro Luis Díaz Corrales of Christ Crucified, Sch.P., received the Ministry of Christian Education and the Ministry of Special Care for the Education of Poor Children. On that same day, Br Iván Guerra Álvarez of Saint John the Baptist, Sch.P., gave his definitive “yes” to the Order of the Pious Schools with his profession of solemn vows.
Both celebrations were presided over by Fr Ricardo Alberto Sola Ros, Sch.P., Assistant of the Province of USA–PR; many faithful and religious, together with the families of these brothers, accompanied this moment of consecration to God.
The church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, located in the heart of Guanabacoa—the first Piarist presence in the Americas—was witness to these joyful moments. For more than a century and a half of Piety and Learning on Cuban soil, like the Royal Palm in Cuba’s fields, the Pious Schools have remained unshakeably firm despite the many storms endured; their educational path continues to inspire confidence and opens doors to a future full of hope for many children and young people.
