With great joy and hope, the Pious Schools of Mexico have experienced days in which the love of God has manifested itself through beautiful and significant events. Last Friday, 16 February, our Piarist Brother Ángel Díaz Rosas of Jesus Chisrt The Good Shepherd made his Solemn Profession in an intimate and very Piarist atmosphere, because his profession coincided with the VII Annual Meeting of the Calasanz Movement of the Province of Mexico, in which some 400 participants, including children, youth, adults, lay people, brothers and religious, gathered to live together and share the desire to follow the Lord Jesus from the charism of Saint Joseph of Calasanz.

They all witnessed the generous response when Ángel took his solemn vows. The Mass was presided over by Father Provincial Sergio Fernando Hernández Avilés. It was also attended by the religious community of Oaxaca, to which Ángel belongs, several religious of the province, the pre-novices, novices, juniors, the teaching staff of the school, the students, his mother María Estela Rosas and several of his family members and friends. The celebration took place in the José María Claramunt Auditorium of the Carlos Gracida Institute in the city of Oaxaca.

During the homily, the Provincial reminded Angel to live his consecration as a Piarist with passion and dedication and invited him to say a few words about the reason for his vocation, whereupon he said with great emotion and feeling that in the faces of his students and so many people he discovers and finds the love to which Jesus invites him. After the Eucharist, Father General Pedro Aguado’s letter to Ángel was read and the meal was shared in a familiar and joyful atmosphere.

The following day, 17 February, we experienced the ordination of Ángel to the Order of Deacons in gratitude to our Father God, who meets us with mercy. H.R.H. Mons celebrated the liturgy Pedro Vázquez Villalobos, Archbishop of Antequera-Oaxaca, in the chapel of Casa Calasanz of the Province of Mexico. Our brother was entrusted with the service of charity to the Church from the experience of the Piarist charism in a very emotional and festive Mass.

We thank God for the gift that he gives to our family of the Order of Pious Schools, for the gift of the Piarist religious vocation, for the fidelity and perseverance of those he calls. Let us entrust the life and vocation of our brother Angel to our holy father Joseph Calasanz and our Blessed Mother Mary. For the greater glory of God and the good of our neighbour.
