During the celebration of St Joseph Calasanz in the Piarist presence of Hialeah, the first community of the Fraternity of this Province was born. The members of this community, named after Father Mario Vizcaino, are Evelio Pérez-Albuerne, Francia Stelling, Odalys Suayero, Tatiana Córdoba, Hilda Noya, Ninibeth Delel and Fr Ricardo Rivera, SchP.
This happened one year after the Archdiocese of Miami entrusted the parish of St John the Apostle and the parish school of the same name to the Piarist community. In addition, more people in the same presence and in Puerto Rico are in the process of discernment.
There is no doubt that we are living in a time in which there are many opportunities to join forces for a common project. In the parishes and schools of the province, the number of people who want to grow more into the Piarist identity is growing. The fruits of what has been sown over the years are evident and the new challenges for our mission in these times are palpable.
So today, we celebrate this new step and prepare for the next.
We are deeply grateful to the Nazareth Province and the General Council of the Fraternity for the guidance and motivation they have given us on our journey.
