During the month of July, the Pious Schools of Mexico have experienced important moments in the journey of our brothers in initial formation. We thank God for continuing to call courageous young men who generously respond to the following of our Lord Jesus, to serve the Church through the Piarist charism of educating in Piety and Letters.

Beginning of the Novitiate:
On the morning of 13 July, the Eucharistic celebration that marked the canonical beginning of the novitiate took place. The celebration was presided over by Fr. Sergio Fernando Hernández Aviles, Provincial Superior, in the chapel of the Novitiate House “Blessed Piarist Martyrs” in Mexico City. The religious community accompanied him: Fr. Guillermo García, Novice Master, Fr. Rafael Hernández and Fr. José Luis Sánchez.

The novices who began this stage are:
Carlos Eduardo Solís López (from the Vice-Province of the Californias), Erick Barragán Palma, Luis Daniel Montiel García, and Jareth Gordillo Valerio (from the Province of Mexico).

Profession of Simple Vows:
On Saturday 19 July, in the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Tlalcoligia, Mexico City, the Holy Mass was celebrated during which Henry Martín Rodríguez López del Espíritu Santo professed his religious vows of chastity, poverty, obedience, and the education of children and young people as a Piarist. The celebration was presided over by Fr. Sergio Fernando Hernández Avilez, Provincial Superior, and was attended by several Piarist religious from the Province.

Henry was also accompanied by his mother and several family members, friends, children from Hogares Calasanz, lay collaborators, parishioners, and other friends.

Renewal of Vows:
During the same celebration on 19 July, our junior brothers renewed their vows for one more year as Piarist religious. Their renewal was received by the Provincial Superior. They are:

  • José Luis Montes García of the Most Holy Trinity
  • Juan Sebastián Mora Hortúa of Saint Joseph Calasanz
  • Julen Chávez Guerrero of the Holy Spirit
  • Justino Abdiel Rodríguez Conde of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
  • Alejandro Méndez Pérez of the Nativity of the Lord
  • Isaac Rabin Meza Mendoza of Joseph and Mary

During the Mass, the novices who began their formation the previous week were introduced. Fr. Daniel Velázquez, Vice-Provincial Superior of the Californias, was also present, accompanying his novice.

We give thanks to God for the life and vocation of our brothers, for their formative journey and their desire to continue configuring their lives as religious in the service of children and young people.

We entrust their vocation to the intercession of our Holy Father Saint Joseph Calasanz and of Our Lady of the Pious Schools. For the greater glory of God and the benefit of our neighbour.
