The Piarist Meeting on Non-Formal Education (NFE) has begun with good footing in the city of Salamanca after months of organization by the general team of NFE of the Order. After a dynamic presentation, Fr. Daniel Velasquez recalls that the organization of this meeting responds to the need to share experiences of the diverse Piarist presences, to deepen the actions that are carried out and to generate synergies between those who work in this area.
The first conference was given by Fr. Javier Alonso, who, starting from the original intuition of Calasanz, described how the reality of the NFE has evolved in the Pious schools to the present day.
Joan Prat then presented the reality of homes for the care of children in social risk situations. A group of boys and girls from the School House Santiago 1 shared with a beautiful testimony how their passage through the school had changed their lives.
In the afternoon, the group visited the School “Lorenzo Milani ” Where Jesus Garrote, director of the school, explained the various areas of the educational project. We then went in small groups in the various work-training workshops held at the school.
Finally, a panel was made on the “full-time school” in which Ion Aranguren, Miguel Giráldez and Toni Vila made their reflection.
