The Provincial Chapter of the Province of Poland (which includes Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and the Czech Republic) begins on 10 April at St. Norbert’s Retreat House in Hebdów, near Kraków. The official opening ceremony of the Provincial Chapter is scheduled one day after the spiritual preparation presided over by Marcin Jakimowicz, writer, journalist and editor of the magazine “Gość Niedzielny”.

The presence of a layman in our provincial assembly is a sign of the synodal path we want to walk together in the Church, particularly in our Provincial Chapter with the motto: “Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit”.

In two conferences of the writer Marcin Jakimowicz, he prophetically underlined the words of St. Joseph Calasanz: “The Holy Spirit often speaks through the mouths of those from whom we would never expect it”.

The Provincial Chapter is attended by 37 delegates, 36 religious with solemn vows and one junior with simple vows. In addition, during some days or some specific sessions of work, six lay people will also participate, representing: the Secretariat of Formation and Charismatic Integration, the Economic Office of the Province, the project of the Calasanz Cultural Centres (CKC), the Fraternity of the Pious Schools and two representatives of the Youth of our Province.

The work will be developed into six commissions that will analyse:

  1. Calasanctian spirituality
  2. Pastoral care for vocations and initial formation
  3. Ongoing formation and community life
  4. Pastoral care of children and youth
  5. Piarist mission and shared mission
  6. Integral sustainability

The Provincial Chapter will last from 10 April to 15 April. We ask our confreres to join in prayer for the exercise of listening and discernment to the Holy Spirit of our dear Province.
